She performed in theatres across the country, including residences at the Phoenix Center for the Performing Arts and the Arizona Theatre Company before becoming a member of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival company.Īfter deciding to shift from acting to directing Penny became an Associate Artistic Director of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, a position she held for over a decade. THE DIRECTOR: After touring the country as a child performer singing jazz and popular music, Penny trained as an actress at the Dallas Theatre Center and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. He has performed with the Guthrie Theatre, Minneapolis, the Arizona Theatre Company and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Though trained as a classical actor, Richard has originated many roles as a participant in the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's program for the development of new works. He has played Richard II, Romeo, and Hamlet for that company, among a host of other roles. THE ACTOR: A graduate of the prestigious Julliard School, Richard has been a member of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival for over two decades.
